Chief of Defence Force, Major-General Perry Lim, flagging off the Families for Life.
It was a hazy morning last Sunday but that didn’t stop about 5,500 participants from turning up at the SAFRA Celebration Run & Ride 2015!
Organised by SAFRA in partnership with the Families for Life (FFL) Council, the event was converted into walks for both the 5km celebration and FFL 1.5km categories.
Guest of Honour, Major-General Perry Lim, took part in the 5km celebration walk.
Joining the 5km celebration walk was Guest of Honour, Major-General Perry Lim, who also flagged off the FFL 1.5km walk.
Participants of the 5km walk being cheered on by the Kachang Puteh Men and Samsui Women.
The haze didn’t seem to dampen the mood of the NSmen, their families and friends at all. Much to the delight of the participants of the 5km celebration walk, there was a host of enthusiastic cultural performances like the Bhangra dancers, Malay Kompang group and familiar Singapore icons like ‘Kachang Puteh Men’ and ‘Samsui Women’ cheering them on along the route.
Participants passing through the Merlion Mist Way.
Other highlights included the ‘Run with a Smile’ gantry and Merlion Mist Way, a much welcomed refresher from the heat and haze.
Family shot with Universal Studios Singapore characters Shrek and Princess Fiona!
The event proved to be doubly sweet for the participants as both walks passed through Universal Studios Singapore®, granting them the chance to meet their favourite characters like Shrek & Princess Fiona, Anubis Guards and the whole Sesame Street gang!
Enjoying carnival activities like the bouncy castle and photo wall!
At the Coliseum, festivities resumed with stage performances and games, mascots interaction, photo wall, lucky draw and even a bouncy castle.
After the walks, participants were treated to a whole day of unlimited rides at Universal Studios Singapore® at Resort World Sentosa. However, in view of the haze, SAFRA and Universal Studios Singapore® have made arrangements to allow participants to collect their Universal Studios Singapore® tickets on an alternative date and extended the usage period till end Oct 2015, so that they may enjoy the unlimited rides on another day if they preferred not to turn up for the event or the rides. For more details, participants can visit the SAFRA Celebration Run & Ride page.
